The Lede is a neighborhood cocktail bar featuring playful and fresh California food for snacking and sharing.

The Lede was created as a community space. It has been through many lives in its journey to its current self, with energy and support from a beautiful creative community. Now, owners Becki Couch-Alvarado & Joaquin Alvarado are committed to building on the original vision by bringing people together to share ideas, collaborate and connect.

We believe in the power of the arts, storytelling and truth-telling and use The Lede as a space to activate, engage, and support our community.

OUR FOOD

Carlo Espinas is a Bay Area-born chef with over 20 years of experience in kitchens between Oakland, SF and Santa Cruz. His food emphasizes the varied geography, history and seasonality of California. Carlo believes in the power of restaurants to nourish and strengthen communities through food and partnerships. 

Our Bar

Our cocktail menu is crafted by Alex Phillips, who has headed programs at many of the Bay Area’s most respected restaurants. At The Lede, he puts his own spin on classic cocktails, finding new expressions for some of our favorite spirits with the freshest seasonal produce.
